Climate Hero Program

Welcome, and thank you for your commitment to mitigating the impacts of climate change by becoming a Climate Hero! Every fraction of a degree we can keep the earth from warming can positively impact the future of our community. The Climate Hero program is a way for anyone - individuals and businesses - to take actionable steps to reduce their carbon footprint and make Muskoka more sustainable. Each level has various actions to choose from to be tailored to everyone's unique interests and lifestyle.

How to get started:

1. Download the Climate Hero guide - there is one for individuals and one for businesses
2. You start at the Bronze level and pick 7 of the 12 actions to complete or if you are already doing these things great, that counts too!
3. Once you have completed all the actions, document them with a photo or screenshot.
4. Complete the survey below to share what actions you have done and your documentation.
5. We will send you your window cling sticker and pin so you can showcase your commitment to climate action.
6. If you want to keep going you can start working on Silver and then Gold level actions, reporting to us after each one.

The Climate Hero Levels

• Bronze: A modest investment of time and resources is required providing an accessible starting point for your journey.
• Silver: A moderate commitment of time, effort, and resources
• Gold: Achieving this level involves taking a substantial action that significantly impacts your Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions

We encourage you to create a Climate Hero Action Group within your community. Together, you can tackle these actions and inspire a ripple effect across all Muskoka. Many of these actions not only reduce GHG emissions but can also generate cost savings for your family.

For everyone who achieves a Climate Hero level in 2025 there will be a celebration event to recognize the hard work of our residents and businesses. Stay tuned for more information!
