For residents in a basic room (sharing a washroom) - if your Notice of Assessment for 2022 hasn’t been handed into the Administration Office, please do so as soon as possible so we can complete the rate reduction application for the July 1^st cycle for eligible people.

Due to supply chain concerns the threshold was not repaired on Monday, but we have heard from the company and the threshold at the front door will be removed and a new one installed to assist with accessibility. Please be patient as you come through the front door with this work happening. This will start at 6:00 pm and will continue into the evening until work is complete.

• Monday, June 2, 2023: Generator preparation work will start at the back of the home. There will be a concrete pad and a trench for wiring dug. This area will be barricaded off.

The OPP and GTA police services are jointly conducting an investigation into Emergency – Grandparent Scams, which target elderly persons throughout Canada.

The majority of the victims are Ontario residents. In recent weeks, the OPP and Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre received reports of fraudsters contacting taxi companies, requesting them to go to long-term care homes to retrieve funds from victims targeted in the Emergency - Grandparent Scams.

In response, MLTC is partnering with the OPP and the Ministry of Health to share the attached prevention materials with Ontario long-term care homes and their residents

For all of us, our residents and their family members to use the umbrellas and awnings for the summer months, we ask that each person put the umbrella down or the awning in after use. If you see an awning out or an umbrella up with no one using it, please feel free to pull it in or put it down.

A lot of our residents are wanting pet visiting! We have reached out to all of our resources, but no luck. Are you someone that has a pet that has current vaccination status and you would be willing to sign up as a volunteer?

We are looking for you!

We require a current vaccination status of the animal which is kept on file in the admin office and we would need you to fill out the volunteer paperwork to become a registered volunteer. You can come and go on your own time if you want or we can set you up with an activity aide and your visit can become a program.

June is Seniors Month in Ontario. The 2023 theme is “Working for Seniors.”

It’s a time to recognize the hard work seniors have done all their lives to make Ontario into the great place it is today.

We are working for seniors by:

• recognizing and celebrating their accomplishments and milestones.
• funding Seniors Active Living Centre programs that promote wellness, social connections, and education in communities across the province.
• making it easier to find programs and services available for seniors in Ontario, including tax credits, health, caregiving, housing, transportation, and staying safe.

• Hot Water Boiler replaced
• Planning to replace the HVAC that serves the laundry room.
• Two (2) Walk-in Cooler condensers are being replaced this year.
• The New Generator is on schedule to be installed in the fall; the concrete pad will be installed soon.
• The Emergency Evacuation Ramp from the Oak Home Area will be replaced to match the ramp on the far side of the home.
• Gazebo to be installed for residents that smoke at the front of the home to provide shelter that is at least 9 meters away from the front door.
• New bathtubs have now been installed in our Maple and Birch tub rooms. These state-of-the-art bathtubs feature a technology called Hydrosound.
