May 2026 Project Updates

May 7, 2026 Update:

The next phase of the Bay and Beyond infrastructure improvement project will begin the week of May 11, 2026 and will be completed by the end of the year.
Bay Street between Sarah Street and Muskoka Road South will be fully closed to through traffic from June to December 2026 to allow crews to complete this work safely and efficiently.
This stage’s work includes:

• Installation of temporary water services in May to prepare for watermain replacement and maintain water service throughout the project
• Replacement of the watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems along Bay Street
• Full roadway reconstruction between Sarah Street and Muskoka Road South

May 26 Update:
We’re transforming Bay Street between Sarah Street and Canada Post and the contractor is currently on site setting up for this stage of construction. Major construction, including the closing of Bay Street between Sarah Street and Muskoka Road South, is scheduled to start as early as Monday, June 1. This closure allows underground work to be completed safely and efficiently.
Bay Street is anticipated to open and work is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
