June 2026 Project Updates
June 1 Update:
Progress Last Week
- Workers located and exposed the existing water shut-off valves (curb stops) underground, and put temporary supports in place to keep them safe during construction.
- A temporary water supply was set up and water quality testing is underway; the District collected a second round of bacteria samples on May 28.
- Temporary fencing and posts were installed south of Bay Street to keep pedestrian walkways safe and clearly marked.
- Traffic control signs were put in place to prepare for the upcoming Phase 4 road closure.
What's Coming Up This Week
- Water quality testing on the temporary water supply will continue.
- The full construction crew and equipment will be mobilized and brought on site.
- The temporary water line will be connected to the existing shut-off valves.
- Crews will begin removing asphalt, curbs, and the north sidewalk.
June 2 Update:
Line Painting: There will be single lane closures from just east of Steamship Bay Road to Greavette Street beginning Tuesday, June 2 at 9 p.m. to Wednesday, June 3 at 7 a.m. Crews will be conducting line painting.
June 8 Update:
Work Completed Last Week
- Asphalt removal is complete, and all residents and businesses have been connected to temporary water services as of June 4.
- Asphalt removal.
- Removal of the north sidewalk and curb and gutter is underway.
- An arborist completed tree trimming, removal, stump grinding, and cleanup on June 5.
Work Planned for This Week
- Continued removal of road surface materials in preparation for underground sewer work.
- Excavation, installation, and backfilling for a new sanitary sewer connection.
- Excavation, installation, and backfilling for new sewer pipe.
