July 27 Update:

Work planned week of July 27 to July 31

  • Continue sanitary sewer installation, including excavation, installation of sanitary maintenance holes, installation of the sanitary mainline, and backfilling of the sanitary structures and sewer main.
  • Watermain work at the intersection of Bay Street and Sarah Street to prepare for the watermain installation phase of the project.

Work completed week of July 20 to July 24

  • Work completed this week included the installation of approximately 50m of sanitary sewer main with mainline installation continuing.
  • Crews encountered bedrock during sanitary sewer installation. Residents may have noticed increased noise while rock-breaking activities were underway. Vibration levels are continuously monitored to ensure they remain within allowable limits.
  • 10-day notice for the upcoming overnight water interruption was delivered to affected residents and businesses on July 17, 2026. A 72-hour notice will be delivered prior to the water interruption.

July 20 Update

  • Crews will continue installing new sanitary sewer infrastructure, progressing toward John Street.

Work completed Week of July 13 to July 17

  • Installation of new sanitary sewer infrastructure within the project area.

  • Businesses in the construction zone remain open and accessible, and customers are encouraged to continue supporting local businesses.
  • Pedestrians are asked to use the designated walkway through the work zone and follow all posted signs to help keep everyone safe.


July 10 Project Update

  • Crews will continue to install sanitary sewer.

Work completed Week of July 3 to July 9

  • A new maintenance hole was installed on Sarah Street, and crews began laying new sanitary sewer pipe to the east of this location.

  • Bay Street remains full closed. Motorist are encouraged to use the posted detours.
  • An overnight water service interruption is anticipated in the coming weeks Affected residents will receive both a 10-day notice and a 72-hour notice prior to the water interruption.

July 6 Project Update

Work planned week of July 6 to 10

  • Crews are completing the setup and testing of the temporary sanitary sewer bypass system to support upcoming sewer replacement work.
  • Installation of the new sanitary sewer will begin at Sarah Street and continue eastward.

Work completed week of June 29 to July 3

  • Project team worked with Enbridge to develop a plan to safely work around existing natural gas infrastructure.
