Properties across Ontario have not been assessed by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) since 2016. Property taxes in Ontario are based on MPAC's assessed values. According to MPAC, the average non-waterfront residential home in Muskoka had an assessed value of less than $300,000 in 2024.

In 2025, for each $100,000 in assessed residential property value, the District of Muskoka's portion of your municipal taxes was $635 if your property has access to municipal water and wastewater services and $339 if your property does not. In addition to the District of Muskoka portion, each Town/Township collects taxes to support their approved budget as well as taxes related to the delivery of public education (school boards).

How would you evaluate the effectiveness of these tax dollars in contributing to the quality of District municipal services you receive (roads, bridges, paramedic services, water treatment, long-term care, police services (OPP), licensed childcare, seniors support services, community and affordable housing) ?
