Bracebridge and Huntsville OPP Detachment Boards

  • The process to select representatives for both Bracebridge and Huntsville detachment boards are very similar.
  • Each of the area municipalities served by the individual detachments will select an elected official and a member of the community to represent their Town or Township on the new boards.
  • Each of the area municipalities involved have recommended District Councillors to sit on the selection panels. These panels will review submissions and recommend community members to be appointed to represent their Town or Townships on the new boards.
  • The selection process to recruit and appoint community representatives will be initiated very soon. After community members have been selected by the panels, District Council will officially establish the new boards and appoint the members formally.

Southern Georgian Bay Detachment Board (SGB Board)

  • District Council has delegated authority to District staff to enter into an agreement with the other four municipalities served by the detachment to select and appoint community (civilian) representatives and to share the administration and costs associated with the SGB Board.
  • District Council has also appointed Mayor Peter Koetsier (District Councillor and Mayor of Georgian Bay Township) to be their representative during the recruitment and selection process for community members and to make a recommendation to the District Council when a community member to represent the Township of Georgian Bay.

More information will be available next week about the recruitment process!
