Muskoka Official Plan Review: February 2026 Updates

The Muskoka Official Plan Review is well underway, with several components already approved for inclusion and others continuing to advance through the review and decision-making process.

Component 1: Growth Strategy – Approved for inclusion in OPA 61 on July 24, 2025 through report CPS-7-2025-5.

◦ Non-Statutory Open House and Public Meeting was held on June 10 and June 19, 2025.

Component 2: Resort Development – Approved for inclusion in OPA 61 on October 23, 2025 through report CPS-9-2025-3.

◦ Non-Statutory Open House and Public Meeting was held on April 16 and April 24, 2025.

Component 3: Environmental Resiliency – Proposed to be approved for inclusion in OPA 61 in February 2026 through report CPS-2-2026-4.

◦ Non-Statutory Open House and Public Information Centre was held on December 11, 2025.

Component 4: Lake System Health – Proposed to be approved for inclusion in OPA 61 in February 2026 through report CPS-2-2026-4.

◦ Non-Statutory Open House and Public Information Centre was held on December 11, 2025.

Component 5: Housekeeping and Provincial Policy Updates – Being brought forward to Committee for consideration and approval for inclusion in February 2026 through report CPS-2-2026-5.


A statutory Public Meeting and Open House for the overall OPA 61: Five-Year Comprehensive Muskoka Official Plan Review is anticipated to occur in spring 2026.


Written comments on OPA 61 may continue to be submitted up until the date a final decision is made.
