June 18, 2026 - Information on Floodplain Mapping

As many know, the proposed floodplain mapping and policies have been a key point of discussion for OPA 61.

The floodplain mapping project commenced in 2018 and a number of publicly available documents have been prepared to help provide summaries of the many projects that were undertaken through the Making Waves initiative. All the final reports, summary sheets, articles and videos have been prepared to help inform the public of the projects outcomes. Additionally a comparison chart of 14 waterbodies within Muskoka has been prepared that provides a comparison of pre-existing regulatory flood elevations identified within Municipal or Provincial documents to those through the District Floodplain Mapping can be seen here.
