April, 2022 update: Please tell us more about your Winter Lakeside Waste Collection event experience this season. This short feedback survey should only take 3 minutes. We're listening. Survey open April 12 - May 30, 2022.
What is Lakeside Waste Collection? The District has been working closely with our consulting team and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) for approved waste collection service as we transition the bin (dumpster) sites.
We recognize this change is difficult. With feedback from communities, we’ve worked to plan a program for this summer to better understand seasonal servicing needs.

What can I bring? This summer, waste collection trucks will be present every Sunday at a dedicated location for a scheduled period to collect garbage and recycling.
up to three (3) bags of household garbage, securely tied
unlimited recycling, delivered loose or in clear/transparent bags (with contents visible)
Please be reminded we cannot accept large/bulky items. Bulky items can be taken to any District Waste Facilityduring normal operating hours.
Can garbage be dropped off outside of the event hours?
No, it can't. We are relying on the cooperation of our dedicated Muskoka community to respect this service and, at the same time, preserve our beautiful Muskoka environment – the reason we all choose to live here. Any abandoned garbage left on the ground before or after the event time is considered illegal dumping, these instances will be investigated and may result in the cancellation of the program.
