Where is construction taking place?

Construction is taking place along King William Street from Scott Street to Highway 60 in the Town of Huntsville.

    Why is this project happening?

The District of Muskoka is investing in the essential systems that make housing possible, for services such as water, wastewater and transportation.

The District is replacing and upgrading aging infrastructure to increase capacity to allow for 3,200 new homes in Huntsville and to provide long-term health benefits for Muskoka’s lakes, rivers and communities.

King William Street’s road surface is in poor shape, and the underground pipes for water, sewer, and storm drainage are old. It all needs to be replaced so services can keep working without disruption and the area can grow in the future.

Doing this underground work at the same time as the road work is an efficient way to update the streetby saving time and money and eliminating future disruptions. It also gives the District the opportunity to make intersections safer, improve access for everyone, and prepare the area for future homes and new development.

    How long will construction take?

Construction along King William Street is scheduled to start late spring 2026 and is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2026.

As with all road construction projects, delays may occur due to unforeseen conditions. Advance notice will be provided where possible.

What can I expect during construction?

To allow this work to be completed safely and efficiently, you can expect parts of King William Street to be partially closed and limited to one-way traffic.

Municipal 511 will be updated to help keep Google Maps and Waze current.

Will work take place at night?

Contractors may work extended hours, including nights and weekends, to minimize impacts to the public.

    Will pedestrians have access?

Pedestrian crossings at Rogers Cove Drive and the Huntsville Place Mall entrance will remain open.

Will businesses remain open during construction?

Yes, businesses will remain open during construction and look forward to seeing you.

    What is a Construction Café?

A Construction Café is a relaxed, casual drop-in session, where you can enjoy a coffee on us and chat with the District's project team about project updates and ask your questionsThere’s no agenda, just good conversation.

When is the next Construction Café?

King William Street Construction Café is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Henrietta’s Pine Bakery at 92 King William Street in Huntsville. We hope to see you there.
