Exciting News: Fairvern's Move to Our New Home

We are pleased to share that Fairvern's move to our new home is tentatively scheduled for February 17, 2027!

This is an exciting milestone for our community and marks the beginning of a new chapter for Fairvern resi-dents, families, volunteers, and staff. Our new home has been thoughtfully designed to provide a comforta-ble, welcoming, and modern environment that will support the health, well-being, and quality of life of our residents for years to come.

Over the coming months, residents and families will receive information about the move, including invita-tions to information sessions, tours, and opportunities to learn more about what to expect. We are com-mitted to keeping everyone informed throughout the transition and ensuring that questions and concerns are addressed along the way.

A great deal of planning is underway to ensure the move is safe, organized, and resident-focused. Our priori-ty is to make the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible for every resident.

How Families Can Help

As we prepare for this exciting transition, we are looking for family members and loved ones who may be interested in assisting with various aspects of the move. Support may include:

• Packing and unpacking personal belongings before and after move day.

• Assisting their loved one with transportation to the new home, where appropriate.

• Providing support and reassurance to residents during the transition.

• Helping residents settle into their new rooms and personalize their new living spaces on move day.

Volunteering in other support roles as needed during the move process.

If you are interested in assisting, please let us know how you would like to help. In the coming months, we will be reaching out to families to discuss available opportunities and to coordinate support for move day.

Thank you for your ongoing support, patience, and enthusiasm as we prepare to open the doors to Fairvern's new home. We look forward to working together to make this a positive and memorable experi-ence for all residents.

The countdown to February 17, 2027, has begun, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to our new Fairvern!

Re:

Family supplied medications

This is a reminder that in 2022 The Ontario government passed updated legislation called the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021. Under the new legislation the regulation remains that any medications to be adminis-tered to a resident by long-term care home staff must be dispensed through your long-term care homes pharmacy service provider (such as MediSystem Pharmacy).

The FLTCA states in regulation 131. (1) Every licensee of a long-term care home shall ensure that no drug is acquired, received or stored by or in the home or kept by a resident under subsection 140 (8) unless the drug, (b) has been provided by, or through an arrangement made by, the pharmacy service provider or the Government of Ontario.

It is therefore strongly recommended that residents and families do not bring their own medications and over-the-counter products like vitamins, minerals and other supplements into the home. This is to ensure the safe administration and storage of these products for all residents as well as to ensure the LTC home re-mains compliant with provincial regulations. By maintaining a complete record of all the medications your pharmacy will then be able to help prevent any harmful effects that can be caused by interactions between over-the-counter products and other medications or medical conditions.

MediSystem Pharmacy will purchase these products on your behalf and package them for administration by the nursing home staff. All over-the-counter products not covered by Ontario Drug Benefit, prescribed by your physician, will be provided at retail pricing. We will not charge a dispensing fee for over-the-counter products.

For more information, please contact your MediSystem Consultant Pharmacist or MediSystem Quality Im-provement Nurse.
