July 2025 Communication

Friends of Fairvern
Tag Day
Tag Day for the Friends of Fairvern will take place on Friday August 1st, 2025 at various locations around Huntsville and in some of the surrounding towns. We are still in need of volunteers to help tag. Even if you only have a few hours to spare that day we would so appreciate your help. If you would like to assist with this event, please contact Marlene Schell at 705-789-4363. If unable to help at the event, please consider supporting the tag day by making a donation. If you prefer to donate by e-transfer this is possible by emailing:
Friendsoffairvern1982@gmail.com
** Money raised by The Friends of Fairvern is used to support the residents of Fairvern as needs are identified by the administration staff of the Home.
Preserve Jars
The Friends are looking for donations of either 250mL or 500 mL empty preserve jars. If you can help, please contact Marlene Schell at 705-789-4363.
Yard Sale
Once again, The Friends of Fairvern will be taking part in the annual Church Street Community Yard Sale. This year the date is Saturday July 12th from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. Please plan to drop by to say “Hi” and maybe see if something we have for sale piques your interest.

Strawberry

Rhubarb &
Bumbleberry
Large fruit pies are priced at $15.00 or small ones are $8.00 each.

We are so grateful to Rebecca Kelly O’Hearn of Kelly’s Home Furniture for assisting us in the purchase of a small chest freezer that we can take to events in order to sell our frozen pies and other things that need to be kept frozen. The Kelly family have always been a wonderful supporter of the Friends of Fairvern.
Nuit Blanche North Huntsville
The Friends of Fairvern will be participating in this popular Street Festival on Saturday July 19th. The event begins at 8:00 pm and we will be set up on the lawn of Trinity United Church selling dishes of ice cream and local strawberries to the public. A big thank you to Belly’s Ice Cream Company and Kawartha Dairy for donating the ice cream for this event and to Aaron at Taylor’s Strawberry Farm for providing us with our strawberries.
Resident Summer B.B.Q.
With the warmer weather (finally!) here, we will be starting our resident summer barbeques in the coming weeks. Barbeques will be happening bi-monthly starting on Wednesday, July 9. Each barbeque will be at lunch time beginning at 12:00pm. The menu will be changing for each barbeque with suggestions from Resident Food for Thought Committee. Although, the entire Home will be having the BBQ lunch, we will be alternating which floor dines outside. For the first BBQ on July 9, First Floor resident will be dining outside. Some tables will still be set inside for residents who choose not to eat outside. In the event of inclement weather, the food will still be barbequed, however; meal service will resume as per normal
