How much will rent be?
It is too early to say exactly how much rent will be and it may vary amongst the same unit types.
The District is committed to renting at least 25% of the units at affordable rents. The current range of proposed affordable rent is $960 to $1,414 based on Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation data and Provincial rent tables that are updated annually.
The District is also seeking federal and provincial funding to increase the proportion of units that can be offered at affordable or deeply affordable rents. This is dependent on funding factors and the individual needs of future tenants.
Other units may be rented at rates that reflect low or modest private rental market rates.
How can I apply for a unit?
The District encourages community members who are interested in living in the proposed building, or other affordable housing locations, to review information about affordable or market rent waiting lists maintained by the District. The new project at the Memorial Arena Lands will be added to the affordable and market rent waiting lists during the construction phase.
It is anticipated that all rental units will be offered from the District’s maintained waiting lists.
